Course Description
This 8-hour immersive class introduces participants to the rich traditions of folk flutes, with a special focus on the Native American flute. Through hands-on learning, you will explore the history, cultural significance, and unique sound qualities of these instruments. This course will teach you to use the flute as a tool for personal expression, meditation, and sound healing. Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, you will gain practical skills in flute playing, as well as learn techniques for incorporating these instruments into your healing or musical practice.
Course Objectives
- Learn the history and cultural significance of folk flutes and the Native American flute.
- Develop basic and advanced flute-playing techniques, including breath control, finger positioning, and creating melodies.
- Explore the role of the flute in sound healing and how to use its vibrational frequencies to promote relaxation and emotional release.
- Gain confidence in using the flute for personal meditation, group sound baths, or as a tool in your healing practice.
- Create a sacred relationship with your flute, learning how to cleanse and bless the instrument for healing use.
By the end of this course, you will not only have a strong foundation in playing folk and Native American flutes, but also understand their deep spiritual and cultural roots, allowing you to incorporate them into your sound healing toolkit.
Who Can Take Electives?
- You do not need to be registered in the School of Sound Foundational Diploma Program to take an elective.
- Everyone is open to taking our electives.
- If, after taking an elective you decide to join the Foundational Diploma Program, credits have earned will be applied to your 24 hours of elective requirements.
